Moving Rental Trucks

Moving Rental Trucks are a very useful tool for helping families move.  In fact, it is the most popular moving vehicle for larger homes and has been for many years.  The reasons for its continued popularity are due to its basic structural design and the fact that moving rental trucks are readily available throughout the country.  Here, is a basic rundown on moving rental trucks and what you can expect to find:

Major Moving Rental Trucks Companies

The national moving rental trucks companies include Budget, Penske, U-Haul, and Ryder.  There are also some smaller regional rental truck companies as well.  Of the top companies, U-Haul is probably the most well known.  However, the other companies have their share of unique benefits.  For instance, Penske is well known for keying on renting one way moving trucks and Ryder has a vast selection of different moving vehicles to choose from.

Moving Rental Truck Sizes

Trucks come in a number of different sizes ranging from being about to handle one room of belongings to up to 5 to 7 rooms.  This means you will have to give some thought to what size truck you will need.  We recommend opting for the smaller sizes when it is possible and putting extra padding on valuable items.  Another piece of good news is moving rental trucks have a height of about 6 or 7 feet for storage purposes.  This means you do not have to worry about stooping over a low ceiling like you would in moving van.  This will translate in a few less bumps on your head and a faster loading.

Moving Rental Truck Moving Supplies

Most trucks will come equipped with a loading ramp which will make for easier loading.  One thing to keep in mind here is to match your dolly up with the size of the loading ramp.  The wheels of the moving dolly must be smaller than the loading ramp by about half a foot on each side so that you can push your big sofa and other large belongings up the loading ramp without fear of the dolly getting stuck or coming off the ramp.  By doing a simple inspection beforehand, you should be able to determine if this will be an issue.  Most moving rental truck companies will offer moving dollies to rent.  In my experience, these have worked well when I have used them.

In addition, you should opt to get additional supplies to help with your loading.  Opt for moving blankets or bubble wrap to help give extra protection to valuables like pictures, furniture, and other perishables.  Also, glass, china, and other fragile items should be housed in special boxes for dishes and other items.  These will help give them the protection they need while in transport.  Any extra effort you can make to protect your belongings will generally prove to be worth it.

As you can see, moving rental trucks have a number of working parts to them.  The good news is renting a moving rental truck should now be a lot easier just because of some more knowledge of what to expect.  In addition, always be on the lookout for moving tips as one tip here and their can improve your moving experiences throughout your lifetime.
