Rental Moving Trucks

Rental Moving Trucks are probably what most people think of when they think of moving.  This old mainstay of the moving industry has helped many people move over the years and continues to be the most popular choice for moving options.

Rental Moving Trucks can be purchased from all the major moving companies including U-Haul, Penske, Budget and many regional moving companies.  The dimensions of moving trucks can vary somewhat from company to company.  Most companies offer several moving trucks ranging in size from a cargo length of 10 feet up to just over 25 feet.  Popular sizes are 10, 14, 16, 22, 24 and 26 feet in length.  However, you should recognize these length values are a slight overstatement of the actual number.  For example, a 26 foot long truck may only be 25.4 feet long.  Notwithstanding the length numbers, you can expect to find trucks that have a cargo space height between 6 to 7 feet high.  Although the structure of a rental truck will tend to be fairly uniform, recognize that you may also need to work around tire hubs and a projection in the front of the cargo space.

Most rental moving trucks will come with a ramp that can be pulled out to help load the truck.  In addition, many moving companies will allow you to purchase a dolly to help move larger items and provide other materials to help protect your belongings while being carried in the truck.  As with all moving projects, if you will be doing the loading yourself, make sure you have the proper moving supplies to help protect your valuables from being smashed or broken while being shipped or transported to their new location.
