Moving Containers
Moving Containers are one of the newest options in moving. They are quickly gaining favor as one of the most preferred moving options.
This is easy to see why when you consider their advantages.
Moving containers offer a boxed shape that allows for uniform storage. This means you will not have to get creative trying to find ways to place your
boxes around wheel hubs on moving vans or placing your belongings around obstructions in rental moving
trucks. In addition, moving containers are almost always weather
resistant and waterproof. This means you can move your items during
any weather conditions or you rest easy knowing your items will
be sitting unharmed in the moving container for a few hours or days.
Another advantage is the design of the moving container. This allows
for these containers to be easily lifted by forklift or other lifts to easily be placed on trucks or
trailers. Containers make for easy transport and are less likely to
have items shift inside because the moving container is lifted perfectly level into the truck or
trailer. Finally, a large number of the containers can be left on your
property acting as on site storage space. This can give you more free
time to move when you can fit it into your schedule or it can make remodeling projects much easier as the items
remain on site making unloading that much faster.
There are a number of different moving container companies. Popular
companies include SAM store and move®, ABF U-Pack®, UNITS®, BoxCart®, Smart Move®, Container Rental®, Pack &
Ride®, and Door To Door®. The sizes of each container will vary from
company to company. However, they are all generally about 8 feet tall
and 7 to 8 feet wide. This is a great size for allowing you to be able
to load up just about everything you may have in your house. Length of
these containers will vary depending on the company and so it pays to look around. The good news is you do not have to be overly concerned about the weight of your
belongings. Most containers can carry weights of around 6,000 to 8,000
pounds; however, the size of most moving items means you will likely only end up fitting in about 3,500 to 5,000
lbs of your items.
The main competition for moving containers will be the moving truck companies including the major ones: Budget®,
U-Haul®, and Penske®. The advantages containers have over moving truck
companies and moving vans are its uniform storage space allowing for easier loading, ready made storage space and
the potential for lower or no gas costs. Also, some moving container
companies even offer GPS tracking allow you to track where your container is exactly when moving
it. For all these reasons and more, moving containers may be the
solution to your moving plans.
